Margaret Hoban is based in Naas, Co. Kildare. She has been playing piano since age 8 and completed a Music Performance and Teaching Diploma (ALCM) aged 18. In 2015, she completed a Masters in Traditional Irish Music Performance in the Irish World Academy with piano as her main instrument and modules in concertina and harp. She is currently a keyboard skills tutor on the BA Voice and Dance.
She has many years teaching experience in both traditional and classical music. As well as her work in the Academy, she is an active member of Comhaltas and teaches in two local branches in Co. Kildare and also teaches classical piano with local music schools.
Margaret’s teaching aims to challenge each student, to assist them to develop skills for life and help them to express their individual musical preferences and perform with confidence to the best of their abilities.
She has performed with various ensembles, groups and Ceili Bands. In recent years, she has performed in Bressuire in France, and Hawaii with “Celtic Style” and recently at the International Folk Festival in the Altdorf in Switzerland along with other musicians from the University of Limerick.
