Tower Seminar- TradSong Research Cluster seminar – Sean-Nós Singing: Continuity and Creativity

The three researchers presenting at this seminar will explore sean-nós song from a variety of perspectives, including musical, social, historical and contemporary performance contexts.
Dr Éamonn Costello is an Irish traditional musician and ethnomusicologist currently working as an Irish language teacher at the School of Culture and Communications at the University of Limerick.
Dr Síle Denvir is a lecturer in Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge, DCU. Her latest research project focuses on the music and song from the plays of Patrick Pearse. An accomplished performer, Síle is a sean-nós singer and harpist and is a founding member of the group Líadan.
Dr Róisín Nic Dhonncha is a lecturer in the Department of Irish at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. Her primary research interest is Irish music and song performance, with particular emphasis on the sean-nós singing tradition of her native area of Carna, Conamara.
