Programme Structure
This MA course is offered as a two year full-time program of study. In total, there are thirteen 3 credit modules. Nine 3-credit modules are offered through lectures, seminars, and tutorials. Four 3-credit modules consist of supervised practical experience and independent case study research. In addition, the two year program culminates in the preparation and presentation of a major Music Therapy Project.
The program builds students skills systematically through a series of carefully designed steps toward professional competence. Students initially focus on music skills and theoretical underpinnings of professional practice and then move toward implementation of this skill and knowledge in a supported practice context. Gradually the level of support on clinical placement is reduced until students in the final placement are assessed on their readiness to practice as independent professionals.
