Lunchtime Performance- ‘Goblom/Rest’ Ella Clarke, Emma Fitzgerald and Caitríona Ní Mhurchú
February 15, 2018 at 1:15 pm - 2:00 pm
Goblom (30″) is conceived by choreographer, Ella Clarke and writer/performer, Caitríona Ní Mhurchú. Framed in a ‘found-object’ aesthetic, it accentuates the performers relationship with each other. Through a prism of myth and ritual, early Irish texts and early Abbey plays; the DeathGoddess Badhb questions her own erasure from collective memory.
Rest is a fifteen-minute solo choreographed and performed by Emma Fitzgerald. The solo features one audio track of a text written and read by Emma Fitzgerald, simple lighting and a bare stage which foregrounds the performer’s physical presence in the space.
Emma Fitzgerald is a performer and choreographer whose work combines story-telling, dance and song. She is co-founder of dance theatre company ‘Fitzgerald and Stapleton’ and has a BA Honours in Contemporary Dance from London Contemporary Dance School. Caitríona Ní Mhurchú is an award-winning actor, director and writer for stage radio and TV. She is also a published children’s author. Ella Clarke graduated from Perm State Ballet School, Russia. She has adapted works by US choreographer Deborah Hay and collaborated extensively with theatre directors Jason Byrne and Selina Cartmell at the Abbey and Gate Theatres respectively.
