Special Event – Irish Chamber Orchestra Academy Project

The ICO Academy Project is a unique mix of Irish Chamber Orchestra principals, MA in Classical String Performance students and guest students from 13 different countries. The ensemble work together for four intensive days, culminating in a lunchtime concert in Dance Limerick in Johns Square. The programme is the Mozart Divertimento No. 3, Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony and highlights from Bernstein’s West Side Story. In addition to the energy already created by this mix, director Dr Diane Daly has added an innovative approach to rehearsing and performing classical repertoire. The result is multi-layered, multi-sensory performances that integrate light effects, movement and storytelling, bringing fresh energy and life to these great works.
