‘Sonas is Sláinte’

The Irish World Academy and University Hospital Limerick have been exploring ways in which to improve people’s experiences and change their impressions of a hospital environment. In Autumn 2015, a pilot project invited students of the Academy’s MA Music Therapy, BA Voice and Dance and BA Traditional Music and Dance programmes to perform in a shared café space within the hospital. Following an extremely positive response, this new programme of concerts brings music to a healthcare setting with the aim of providing calm and restoration to patients, staff and visitors.

‘Sonas is Sláinte’ is a joint initiative of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance (Dr Hilary Moss and Dr Kathleen Turner).
