Special Event – Ecotone: A Sonic Journey through Kildimo-Pallaskenry (PhD Arts Practice Performance)

This site-specific sound installation at Ringmoylan Pier in Co. Limerick brings together voices from the community, field recordings and original music to explore a new way of representing place. Inspired by the process of “deep mapping”, the installation sounds out the various experiences of place that exist in a community, the poetry and wonder of the world around us, and the connections that bind us together. Niamh O’Brien is a PhD student on the Arts Practice programme at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, UL. She is a harp player, singer and radio producer. Her research is supported by an Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship.
