For the last number of years the Students of the MA in Composition and Creative Music Practice have worked with former and current members of the MA in Classical String Performance to create new works for string quartet. Under the guidance of Ken Rice of the ICO and Academy lecturers Dr Óscar Mascareñas and Dr Eoin Callery, each cohort of students have produced a wonderful collection of pieces that beautifully integrate many genres and styles of music. This year’s collaborations will again explore how this most traditional family of instruments still facilitates artists in the generation of new and exciting musical sounds and experiences.
