Special Guests Los Paddys at the UL City Campus Holiday Gathering
December 12, 2022 at 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Few times of the year present as many multicultural opportunities to celebrate and commemorate as December. From harvest to solstice festivals, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Bohdi Day, New Year’s Eve and many more, December is also the month when we mark International Human Rights Day and International Migrants Day. Mindful of those who may not be able to share this time with loved ones, the Irish World Academy is delighted to welcome everyone to the second of two special events, featuring guest artists, Los Paddys:
Monday, December 12th, Irish World Music Café, UL city campus, 11.30-1pm. Throughout the semester, the Irish World Music Cafe has welcomed newcomers to Ireland each Monday from 11.30-1pm. Please join us for our end of semester holiday gathering with music, dance, and cakes of the world!
Los Paddys is a fusion of Celtic roots, South American rhythms and a lot more! Led by Academy graduate Co. Clare songwriter and ethnomusicologist, Paddy de las Pampas and featuring an array of incredible musicians including past and present students, the repertoire of the band consists of Irish traditional music and music from different parts of the world, from Venezuelan waltzes to Ukrainian polkas. Los Paddys original songs are often accompanied by unique and eclectic dance choreography, drawing on Irish dance, Flamenco and more . Instruments include fiddle, accordion, flute and bodhran, Gypsy jazz guitar, cuatro and cajon.
