A new initiative from MA Songwriting introduces the
Sunset Concert Series, where visiting songwriters
perform a 45 minutes live set in the Tower Theatre,
starting at 5:30pm. These select performers will have
spent the day with our Songwriting students and end
the visit with a live set.
Admission is free and all are welcome.

Vyvienne Long was the first to conceive and perform “cello
song” in Europe. Captivating the festival circuit with her
sparse but hugely dynamic cover of “Seven Nation Army”,
what was first perceived as a novelty has since become a
niche subgenre that sits alongside the guitar and piano as this
songwriter’s instrument of choice. Coming from a classical
background, Vyvienne started out in the song writing world
collaborating and touring with Damien Rice on his album “0”
and “9”. Her own cello and piano based songs found critical
acclaim with the release of her debut album “Caterpillar
Sarabande”. She has just released her second solo studio album “A Lifetime of High-Fives”, amid collaborations of note which include recording and touring with Balanescu Quartet, The New Triangle (with Niwel Tsumbu and Roger Doyle) and super group DFF (members include composer/guitarist Dave Flynn), live engagements and the shifting sands of family life.
