THE TOWER SEMINAR SERIES – The Ethics of Touch in Music and Dance Contexts.

Touch is both a powerful tool for dancers, musicians and
teachers, and an area rife with ethical concerns and issues.
This seminar will explore the role of touch in teaching,
performance and therapy contexts. When is touch
appropriate and inappropriate? What are the boundaries
around touch in different contexts and settings within arts
education, performance and socially engaged practice?
What are the particular issues we encounter as practitioners,
performers, teachers and therapists?
The seminar will be led by Dr Mats Melin and Dr Hilary
Moss, but the majority of the session will be interactive, with
discussion and reflection the primary goal of the seminar.
Other faculty members will be present to contribute to the
discussion
