Lunchtime Performance- ‘Vox Virginis: The Voice of the Virgin’ Rosemary Heredos
February 22, 2018 at 1:15 pm - 2:00 pm
This recital is built upon research and performance undertaken during the MA Ritual Chant and Song, in which Rosemary explored Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, and Irish sean-nós musical traditions which depict Mary mourning at the Crucifixion. Since then, she has expanded the programme to include more repertoire from these and other traditions which explore this ubiquitous topos.
Soprano Rosemary Heredos is a recent graduate of the MA Ritual Chant and Song at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, specialising in the performance of Gregorian and Byzantine chant as well as Irish sean-nós repertoire. She has also extensively performed opera, oratorio, and classical art song. A native of Parkman, Ohio, she studied at Kent State University, completing bachelor’s degrees in Vocal Performance and English Literature. Rosemary currently teaches voice lessons at the University of Limerick and Glenstal Abbey School, as well as singing with Cantoral, an all-female chant ensemble based at the Irish World Academy.
